A Scotsman wearing a kilt completed an 8,000-kilometre fundraising walk across Canada with his dog. Michael Yellowlees and his Alaskan husky, Luna finished on Sunday by striding into an icy breeze atop Cape Spear in the east of Newfoundland. Their journey began nine months ago in Tofino, British Columbia.
As he neared the finish line he said “I’m feeling pretty pumped, but I can’t believe that it’s done,… It will take a couple of days to sink in.” Yellowlees is from Dunkeld and Birnam in Scotland and took on the journey to raise money for a conservation group that wants to plant trees in the Scottish Highlands.
At 32-years-old the Highlander raised more than $60,000 for the Trees for Life charity. He wore a kilt every day of the trip, including through snowstorms in the Rockies and cold rain in Newfoundland. In an earlier interview, he said “once you’re moving and as long as your core is warm with enough layers, you stay warm enough,”
