On Friday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 1,453 new infections of COVID-19 signifying an increase from yesterday. On Thursday officials reported 1,290, on Wednesday the province reported 1.009 new cases, Tuesday there were 928 new cases. Currently, there are at least 309 people in hospitals for COVID-19 and 151 patients are in intensive care units
The seven-day rolling average rose to 1,055 today as it was at 866 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 4.4 per cent as it processed over 39,941 tests in the last 24-hour period. Of the cases reported today, 613 involved people who are unvaccinated and 718 were in people who are vaccinated.
According to Ontario, as of Monday, 11,295,706 people in the province have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. There were 195 new cases logged in Toronto, 89 cases in Windsor-Essex, and 89 in Peel Region. The province also reported 76 cases in Durham Region, 68 in Halton, and 91 in York Region.
