Sony Music has purchased Bruce Springsteen’s masters and music publishing rights in a deal worth roughly US$500 million. The entertainment publication Billboard confirmed this news on Wednesday. The deal gives Sony ownership of the rock music legend’s entire catologue, including his 15-times platinum album ‘Born In The U.S.A.’ and five-times platinum ‘The River’.

This is the most recent of the many catologue deals that have been made over the past year. Other artists who signed deals include David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Stevie Nicks, Neil Young, and Carole Bayer Sager.

Warner Music acquired the worldwide rights to Bowie’s catologue in September. Dylan sold his back catologue of more than 600 songs in December last year to Universal Music Group for approximately $300 million. Springsteen recorded his music with Sony’s Columbia Records, but they did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
