Still refusing to get vaccinated, Kyrie Irving will be allowed to play with the Brooklyn Nets on a part-time basis. The star guard may help spark his team out of their midseason slump but he will only be able to do so on the road. Irving will not be allowed to play in New York but he will take every chance he gets for away games.
On Wednesday Kyrie Irving said “I know what the consequences were, I still know what they are,… But right now, I’m just going to take it one day at a time, as I said, and just enjoy this time that I get to play with my guys… However it looks later in the season, then we’ll address it then.”
Irving had been held out of the team’s first 35 games and made his season debut against the Indiana Pacers. He played for 32 minutes and scored 22 points to help the Nets win a 129-121 road victory. The Brooklyn Nets had a recent COVID-19 outbreak that left them very short-handed. The team’s options were to either use Irving as a part-time player or sign lesser players to 10-day hardship contracts.
