On Thursday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 7,757 new infections of COVID-19 however, the number is an estimate due to backlogs. On Monday, Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr.Kieran Moore said he has more hope that case growth appears to be slowing in hospitals and ICUs. There are 4,061 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 594 people are in intensive care units.
Of the cases reported today, 5,819 of those cases were identified in people who are fully vaccinated and 1,079 of the cases are among the unvaccinated. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 15.9 per cent as it processed over 42,907 tests in the last 24-hour period. Last week, the province announced anyone who is immunocompromised can book an appointment for 4th dose booster.
According to Ontario, 12,891 more cases of the disease have been resolved as of Wednesday. There were 1,373 new cases logged in Toronto, 643 cases in York Region, and 1,006 in Peel Region. The province also reported 391 cases in Halton Region, 300 in Ottawa, and 415 in Waterloo.
