    As frigid temperatures are set to continue Friday, an extreme cold weather alert is in effect for Toronto. Toronto’s medical officer of health issued the alert as they anticipate cold weather conditions for the next 24 hours. Environment Canada said it will feel like -18 C with the wind chill in Toronto on Friday morning.

    The high temperature of the day will rest at -4 C but will feel like -9 C with the wind chill. There will be a mix of sun and cloud as well as windy conditions and chances of flurries in the afternoon. Overnight the temperature is expected to fall to -20 with a wind chill and rise to a high of 1 C by Saturday afternoon. 

    The national weather agency also announced a winter weather travel advisory as snowfall accumulations near 5 cm and blowing snow are expected till Friday afternoon. There will be four warming centres across the city for vulnerable residents. They will be located at 129 Peter St., 5800 Yonge St., Exhibition Place, Better Living Centre, 195 Princess’ Blvd., and Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr.
