Canada’s wheelchair and four Canadian athletes added more medals to Canada’s Paralympic haul Thursday night and Friday morning. Ahead of the final weekend, Mollie Jepsen, Mark Arendz, Brittany Hudak, Tyler Turner, and the Mark Ideson-led curling rink to another medal victory.
Another medal is also secured as the Canadian men’s Para ice hockey team beat South Korea 11-0 to qualify for the finals. Para alpine skier Jepsen, 22, placed second in the women’s standing giant slalom with a time of two minutes 0.95 seconds. From West Vancouver, B.C., Jepson posted the third-best time in the first run and moved to the top position after her second attempt with only two other skiers to go.
Arendz from Hartsville, P.E.I. won a silver medal in the men’s standing 12.5 kilometre biathlon At 32-years-old the athlete finished with a time of 40:13 to add an 11th career medal. Arendz went six for six in medals at the PyeongChang 2018, which was a Canadian record.
