One of the most prestigious motorsports series in the world will add a third race in the United States to the 2023 calendar. The event will be on a Saturday night down the Strip as F1 tries to expand its North American footprint. F1 racers will turn 50 laps around a temporary 3.8-mile street course next November.
The race will feature Bellagio, Caesars Palace, the MSG Sphere, and many other landmarks. F1 will collaborate with Liberty Media Corporation to promote the event. This is the first F1 race that Liberty will promote. The company took over as F1’s rights holder in 2017 and has been focused on growing the series in the United States.
Netflix released the fourth season of their docuseries “Drive to Survive” earlier this month to enormous ratings. Greg Maffei, President and CEO of Liberty Media said “It’s our home market, so that makes it more interesting, and obviously it’s the largest economy in the world, the largest disposable income, … It’s an opportunity that had not been pursued historically and it’s where we think a lot of growth can come.”
