Due to a glass shortage, an Ottawa distiller started using maple syrup bottles to make up for the demand. Many distilleries, restaurants, and pubs in Ottawa have been hit by the global supply chain disruption of glass bottles. Some of these establishments are left wondering how to serve their customers.
Owner of Ogham Craft Spirits micro-distillery Adam Brierley said he has been forced to selling drinks in maple syrup bottles. He explained that his Kanata distillery might not see new glass bottles until 2023 and said “if we don’t have that vessel to give to the customer, there’s a big problem,”
Before the pandemic the distillery owner said you would expect an order of new glass bottles to arrive within a week. Now he must place an order at least six months in advance for bottles that are available and much more expensive.
