    Matt Murray, the 28-year-old goaltender for the Ottawa Senators has been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto acquired Murray, a third-round selection in the 2023 NHL draft and a seventh round selection in the 2024 draft from the Senators in exchange for future considerations. Ottawa has to retain 25 per cent of Murray’s salary as part of the trade.

    Murray has played in 246 regular-season games with Ottawa and the Pittsburgh Penguins over his seven-year NHL career. He posted a record of 132-78-22 with a 2.77 goals-against average, a .911 save percentage and 14 shutouts. Murray is a Thunder Bay, Ontario native .

    In the playoffs, Murray owns a record of 29-21 with a 2.18 goals against average, a .921 save percentage and six shutouts. Murray was part of Pittsburgh’s Stanley Cup championship teams in 2016 and 2017.
