Dave Proctor started his ultra-marathon from St. John’s, Newfoundland and finished on Thursday in Victoria, British Columbia. He was flooded with emotion when he reached a cheering crowd of family and supporters at Mile 0 in Victoria. It took the 41-year-old man 67 and a half days to complete his literal cross-country run.
Proctor is a massage therapist from Okotoks, Alta. and appears to be the new holder of the cross-Canada speed record. He smashed the previous record of 72 days and 10 hours which was set by Al Howie in 1991. Dave’s parents, Randy and Nancy Proctor were both overjoyed to see their son accomplish such an incredible task.
After arriving at the finish line Proctor said “It feels tiring, … I feel like I’m on top of the world, … Blessed to have this opportunity and grateful – I’ve just seen the most beautiful country in the world.”
