    On Friday, Ontario reported 401 new cases of Covid-19. Health Minister Christine Elliott said the province had seen a significant rise in new cases since the middle of August, with Toronto recording 130, Peel 82, and Ottawa 61.

    Two-thirds of the new cases reported on Friday were found in people under 40. 

    Premier Doug Ford announced tighter restrictions on social gatherings, effective on Friday, for Ottawa, Peel, and Toronto. 

    Fines of up to $10,000 will be given to organizers, and $750 for the guest, if restrictions are not followed.
