The trilogy bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier was ended in the first round by a doctor’s decision. This came after McGregor stumbled backward and ended up breaking his left leg. The fight was immediately stopped and the victory was given to Poirier at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The break was clean on the left tibia and required a necessary surgery. After the operation, McGregor posted a video on social media addressing his fans. He said “ everything went perfect and I’m feeling tremendous. We’ve got six weeks on a crutch now and then we begin to build back,”

McGregor considers the fight to be an “illegitimate” win for Poirier and “That second round would have shown it all.” President of the UFC Dana White is not concerned about his future as he said “there will be fights on the table when he is fit again.”
