Apple started its annual developer conference by unveiling its next-generation of mobile software. iOS 16 has new features that will let users personalize their iPhone lock screens, change how they text friends through iMessage, and deepen its integration with cars.
These updates were displayed on Monday at its Worldwide Developers Conference. Some industry watchers were hoping Apple would offer a sneak peak into a platform thought to be called RealityOS. The system could potentially power a mixed reality headset, which is capable of both VR and AR.
Instead the focus was on a more functional product update. The Mac software will have more multitasking features, the introduction of Apple’s Weather app on iPad and unveiling the company’s new M2 chip. Some of the most anticipated changes is the ability to edit or unsend messages and to mark messages as unread.
