Residents in Banff purchasing an e-bike will be able to take advantage of a new rebate. The municipality of Banff will offer a rebate of $750 on the purchase of an electric bike under $5,000. The town’s manager of environment and sustainability, Michael Hay said the goal is to get people to ride their bicycles for longer distances.

He specifically explained “We want to be a leader across the country. In fact, what we say is we’d like to be a model environmental community,.. A big part of that is trying to get people to use transportation methods that are good for the environment.”

You need to be a Banff resident to be eligible for the rebate and the program will extend to businesses in a couple of weeks. Higher rebates are available to members of the town’s Banff Access Program. People in Tier 1 of the program can access a rebate of up to $1,000, and those in Tier 2 can get a rebate up to $900.
