According to NASA, the Starliner’s test flight was a success making it a closer new option for rides to and from the ISS. The capsule landed on Earth on Wednesday and completed a repeat test flight before NASA astronauts hop aboard.

The descent for the International Space Station was very quick. The Starliner parachuted into the New Mexico desert just four hours after leaving the orbiting station. The capsule had airbags attached to cushion the landing and inside had a mannequin buckled in.

Besides some thruster failures and cooling system snags, the capsule was able to steadily land on the ground. It has been 2 and a half years since its first botched attempt. As a result, flight controllers in Houston applauded and cheered the accurate landing.
