A Canadian speedskating trio won gold and fellow champ Parrot won his 2nd snowboard medal at the Beijing Olympics. Canada’s women’s team consisted of Isabelle Weidemann, Ivanie Blondin, and Valerie Maltais. The team won Canada’s second gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games on Tuesday.

The team faced off against Japan in the ‘A” final and trailed the defending Olympic champions throughout the race. By the bell lap, the Canadian women had narrowed the gap to 39-hundredths of a second. Eventually, disaster struck for the Japanese team and Canada crossed the line for the gold medal.

This was Canada’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in the women’s team pursuit. Canada’s men’s team pursuit the South Korean team in the ‘C’ final to finish fifth place. Max Parrot claimed his second medal of these Olympics after earning bronze in the big air snowboard final. Parrot just won a gold medal last week in the slopestyle competition.
