Canada is set to allow fully vaccinated foreign travellers to enter Canada on September 7 and allow them to skip the 14-day quarantine requirement. This comes at a time when the country is battling the fourth wave of COVID-19. This is a significant change since most non-essential foreign travellers were banned from entering Canada from the start of the pandemic.

The federal government began allowing fully vaccinated Americans to travel to Canada and skip the quarantine. Some are concerned that the Canadian government will not actually follow through with the plans. Andy Green, from Halstead, U.K. said “I’ve been kind of looking online every day, Googling to find out at what point is the government of Canada going to make a decision?”

International travellers wishing to enter Canada will have to meet a set of requirements to skip the quarantine. First, they must have received all required doses of a Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccine 14-days before arriving in Canada. Second, within 72 hours before arrival, travellers must use the ArriveCAN app or register online to submit travel and vaccination information.
