A Nexus card is used to help put low-risk Canadians on the fast track when crossing the U.S. border. However, there are at least 330,000 Canadians that aren’t sure when their applications will be processed. Some residents from Toronto have applied for the card more than two years ago and are still uncertain when it will be processed.

Canadians are also required to get the necessary in-person interview to finish the entire process. Raichelle Hum from Toronto said “I travel periodically ro the U.S. for work and my husband already has a Nexus card so for us it would make travelling a lot easier,”

Nexus is a Canada-U.S. program that is designed to speed up cross-border travel for low-risk Canadians by land, air, and sea. Enrolment for the Nexus card has been closed since March of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
