The demand for the COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S. is declining, some Canadians are deciding to fly south to get a vaccine quicker. Many Canadians are still ineligible to receive a shot and most that are eligible only got their first dose. So, getting fully vaccinated in the United States could take months earlier, rather than in Canada.

Almost a third of all Americans are fully vaccinated and only 3 percent of Canadians are. The U.S. only allows a 3-4 week gap in between the first and second does. Where Canada extended that gap to 4 months making it longer to reach optimal protection.

The vaccine rollout in the U.S. is reaching a point where supply is greater than demand. According to CTV News, the “U.S. government is paying for foreign travelers to get their COVID-19 shots”. Encouraging Canadians to travel and get vaccinated in the United States.
