Against the odds, Montreal Canadiens were able to come back from a 3-1 series deficit and win game 7. They knocked out the Toronto Maple Leafs who were first place in their division for the regular season. The Canadiens were at the bottom of the division leaving the Leafs to face more uncomfortable questions after this post-season-disaster.

Carey Price had a stellar game and made 29 saves only allowing one goal. Brendan Gallagher, Corey Perry, and Tyler Toffoli all scored one goal to give the Canadiens a 3-0 lead. Nylander from the Leafs scored with 1:36 left in the game to make the score 3-1. However, there was not enough time for them to make a comeback.

The Leafs were missing some key players for this game 7 Original 6 match-up. Captain John Tavares was out with a concussion and defenceman Jake Muzzin had a suspected groin injury. The last time these two had a playoff matchup was back in 1979. That series also went to game 7 but the Leafs were victorious.
