Since the start of the coronavirus outbreak, the Beizhong International Travel Agency has had only one customer and the Chinese government is looking to renew city lockdowns and travel controls. Most of China is actually virus-free due to the nation’s severe responses to outbreaks. This left some tourists nervous about traveling to places because they could potentially be barred from leaving.

This has a big impact on consumer spending as the nation is trying to recover its economy. China has a “zero tolerance” strategy that isolates every case to stop the spread of the virus, but the public and businesses are paying the price.

International athletes are scheduled to compete in the Winter Olympics on February 4 in Beijing and the city of Zhangjiakou. The government hasn’t announced if restrictions will be changed to allow spectators. The Bezhong agency manager, Wang Hui said “Two years ago, this was our busiest season,… Now, customers tend to postpone their plans because of the outbreaks.”
