City Employees Must be Vaccinated for COVID-19 by Oct. 30, John Tory Says

Toronto Mayor John Tory has announced any employee working for the City of Toronto must be fully vaccinated by October 30 for the novel coronavirus. Tory says the delta variant has the potential to ruin the progress made in fighting this pandemic. He explained, “no doubt that the vast majority” of city workers are already vaccinated but the policy is still necessary.

City of Toronto employees will be required to disclose their vaccination status by September 13. If the employee is unvaccinated, they will undergo education sessions on COVID-19 and vaccinations. Tory explained it will highlight “benefits of getting vaccinated,”

Workers will have to provide proof of a first-dose COVID-19 vaccine by September 30. Every employee must be fully vaccinated by October 30, according to Mayor John Tory. The province is currently in Step 3 of its COVID-19 reopening plan. Indoor dining, gyms, hair salons, movies, and more are allowed to open with limited capacity and restrictions.
