After many years of playoff disappointment, the Colorado Avalanche have officially dethroned the two-time defending champions. Nathan MacKinnon could not find the words to describe the moment and Gabriel Landeskog cracked a smile and a joke. Lehkonen scored the game-winner to boost his team to victory.

The Avalanche have now won the Stanley Cup for the third time in franchise history. The playoff MVP-winning defenseman Cale Makar said their team’s journey “was all leading up to this,” The team has been knocked out of the second round playoffs each of the past three seasons.

Assistant captain, Nathan MacKinnon said “It feels unbelievable, some tough years mixed in there, but it’s all over now. We never stopped believing.” The Colorado team featured a mix of speed, high-end talent and experiences gained from playoff defeats.
