    As COVID-19 restrictions are being prepared to be lifted in Toronto next Saturday, the city plans to “open safely and remain open safely.”

    Eileen de Villa, the city’s medical officer of health, said that with Stage 2 restrictions being lifted, they want to prevent COVID-19 from spreading to the fullest. 

    The city is not only starting its full contact tracing program, but it will be expanding it. 

    “We have increased our case and contact team from 50 to roughly 700, the largest in the country, and we have 200 additional staff coming on board this month,” de Villa said.
