The second wave of COVID-19 has come back more potent than the first wave, but it has been less lethal, and fewer Canadians are ending up in the hospital.
During the first wave of the pandemic, the new case total was below 2,000 per day, but in the last week, Canada’s average is 2,747 new cases per day.
Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, said: “This situation can change and it depends on the vulnerability of the populations impacted and the capacity of the health-care system in affected areas.”
