Demar DeRozan, the leading scorer for the Chicago Bulls entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols on Monday. This acts as a major hurdle for a team that has the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. The former Raptor participated in the morning shootaround before the game against the Nuggets, but the coach wasn’t sure if his tests came back positive.
Coach Billy Donovan said “I cannot really confirm or deny if it’s a false positive or is positive… I don’t know right now. Obviously, the medical staff works through the league on that and they come up with the guidelines to which he’s got to follow. And I hope we’ll be able to have more news one way or another in the next day or so.”
DeRozan was traded from San Antonia in the offseason and has made a significant impact on the Bulls. On Monday, he ranked fourth in the NBA at 26.4 points per game and led the league in fourth-quarter points with 178. The Bulls have their eyes set on the playoffs as it will be their first since the 2016-17 season.
