Today, Doug Ford said his government will release an announcement “in a day or two” on whether schools will reopen in June. Ford has been slow to make the decision as Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Willams and Ontario’s science advisory table have both supported in-person classes. The experts said it would have to be on a region-by-region basis.

Ford talked to medical experts and stakeholders on Thursday through letters asking for their input on potential reopenings. Today, the Ford Government said they are still reviewing the feedback but are close to a decision. Dr. Williams explains that with the limited number of teaching days it is an “opportune” time to reopen.

Ford promised the announcement will be made “in the next day or two”. Schools have been closed in Ontario since mid-April, with the province rolling out their reopening plan on June 14, some people have asked for students to return.
