    Statistics Canada announced that the pace of job growth slowed down in October as 83,600 new jobs were added. 

    In October, the unemployment rate went down to 8.9 per cent, compared to 9 per cent in September.

    According to Refinitiv, a financial data firm, the average estimate was for a gain of 100,000 jobs in October and an unemployment rate of 8.8 per cent.
