The NHL playoffs started four days ago in the United States and are set to get going in Canada tonight. Despite the last regular-season game being played tonight by the Calgary Flames hosting the Vancouver Canucks, the playoffs will still kick-off only hours after. The Edmonton Oilers are scheduled to host the Winnipeg Jets as the first Canadian post-season game.

The delayed start of the North Division Playoffs is heavily influenced by the Canucks’ COVID-19 outbreak during the season. The NHL wanted the Canucks to complete all of their regular-season games before the playoffs started. Toronto Maple Leafs are set to host the Montreal Canadians in their Canadian series tomorrow.

There will be no fans attending playoff games as COVID-19 restrictions are too tight. However, 2,500 Canadiens spectators will be allowed at the Bell Centre for Game 6 if the series lasts that long.
