Elon Musk a tech mogul and space entrepreneur will be taking the role of host this weekend on Saturday Night Live. Whether or not the tech billionaire should have been invited, it has already generated skepticism, debate, and social media backlash.

Elon Musk announced that he would be hosting SNL to his loyal 50 million followers on Twitter; where it got hundreds of thousands of mostly positive replies. The more mixed reactions were on other news outlets such as CNN, the Atlantic, and the Los Angeles Times.

Most of the criticism is based on Tesla’s and SpaceX’s controversial statements about COVID-19 vaccines. Writer and editor Jenelle Riley commented on Elon Musk by saying she feels “Beyond disappointment in SNL”. She then listed Musk’s recent business controversies, such as reopening Tesla plants early on in the pandemic.
