    Christian Eriksen remains in the hospital after suffering a heart attack during Denmark’s game against Finland on Saturday. He had to be resuscitated back to life with a defibrillator on the field. Today, Eriksen sent his first public message from the hospital, thanking people for their support. He considers all his supporters to be “sweet and amazing” after receiving tons of well-wishes after his collapse.

    In a message Eriksen wrote, that was shared on the Danish soccer association Twitter said “Big thanks for your sweet and amazing greetings and messages from around the world. It means a lot to me and my family.” The message was paired with a photo of the 29-year-old soccer player giving a thumbs up from his hospital bed.

    Eriksen and the Denmark team have been overwhelmed by all the support from all over the world. Including fans of rival teams, Denmark’s coach said it shows how “football is the biggest social phenomenon in the world.”
