    Mask rules can still vary by airline depending on the travellers destination or departure point. On Wednesday authorities said the European Union will no longer enforce mask requirements at airports and on planes starting next week. 

    The decision was made by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. The agency hopes the joint decision will be “a big step in the normalization of air travel,”

    In a joint statement the two agencies said the new rules “takes account of the latest developments in the pandemic, in particular the levels of vaccination and naturally acquired immunity, and the accompanying lifting of restrictions in a growing number of European countries,”
