On Monday, the Canadian company Bombardier revealed its high speed achievements with its new business jet. The plane manufacturer said while in-development the Global 8000 will be “the world’s fastest and longest-range purpose-built business jet.” The jet can carry up to 19 passengers, has a range of 8,000 nautical miles and a max speed of Mach 0.94.

According to Bombardier, the upcoming plane is expected to enter service in 2025. This news comes after their Global 7500 test vehicle broke the sound barrier during a demo flight last May. The plane achieved speeds of more than Mach 1,015.

During the test, the plane was accompanied by a NASA F/A-18 chase plane. The plane became the first Transport Category airplane to fly supersonic with sustainable aviation fuel. President and CEO of Bombardier Éric Martel said “The Global 8000 aircraft leverages the outstanding attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft, providing our customers with a flagship aircraft of a new era,”
