Today at 3:00 p.m. ET Premier Doug Ford is set to unveil their new plans to reopen Ontario. This comes after the dangerous third wave of COVID-19 dwindles down slowly. There will also be a meeting at 1:00 p.m. with provincial officials to present updated modeling forecasts for coronavirus.

Yesterday, Solicitor General Sylvia Jones said the Ford government was still actively working on a phased reopening plan. Officials have already confirmed that Ontario will stop the colour-coded pandemic framework that implemented different restrictions of varying regions.

A scientific director of the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, Dr. Peter Jüni believes their plan will support a sector by sector reopening to prevent “region hopping”. Dr. Jüni also feels that outdoor activities and recreation should be lifted before the intended date of June 2.

The OHA or Ontario Hospital Association recommends “low transmission environments” open first. So, golf courses, tennis courts, and playgrounds, and other amenities should be the first to open. Then moving to ease restrictions on activities like outdoor dining.
