    Household Debt Surges to 171 Per Cent of Disposable Income

    According to Statistics Canada, Canadian households owe $1.71 for every dollar of disposable income.

    In the third quarter, household debt surged to 170.7 per cent from 162.8 per cent in the second quarter.

    The ratio is still under the $1.81 households owed for every dollar of disposable income last year in the fourth quarter.
