    A big pink diamond was found in Angola and is said to be the largest gemstone found in 300 years. Called the “Lulo Rose,” the diamond is 170 carats and was found at the Lulo alluvial diamond mine. Lucapa Diamond Company, the mine’s owner, announced the new on Wednesday on their website. 

    Lucapa CEO Stephen Wetherall said “only one in 10,000 diamonds is colored pink. So you’re certainly looking at a very rare article when you find a very large pink diamond. The gemstone is expected to sell at high value when auctioned, but the CEO is unsure how much it will be.

    Angola;s Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo said “this record and spectacular pink diamond recovered from Lulo continue to showcase Angola as an important player on the world stage for diamond mining and demonstrates the potential and rewards for commitment and investment in our growing diamond and mining industry.
