The pandemic’s first wave created a demand for home office equipment as many people transitioned to working from home. However, according to IKEA, this past year showed a trend toward making things more comfortable and flexible. This is because people are spending more time in their abodes in these uncertain times.

Ikea releases a list of its most popular products in 2021, which the company shared with CTVNews.ca. It demonstrates how its customers stressed creature comforts over the practical and utilitarian. Sales in ergonomic pillows shot up 16 per cent and duvets and bedframes saw increases.

Canadians purchased more than 4 million candles this past year which is a 123 per cent increase from last year. There was a 135 per cent increase in the sales of Runnen patio tiles and the sales doubles in the Applaro outdoor tables. Plants, mainly ficus plants, saw an increase of sales of more than 233 per cent from last year.
