A report by an analytic company App Annie has calculated that Canadians spent an average of 4.4 hours a day on mobile apps in 2021. In 2020 the average time Canadians spend on mobile apps was 3.9 hours. Americans spent 4.2 hours a day and the U.K. spent 4 hours a day on mobile apps in 2021.

The app Annie is able to break down tons of mobile data to analyze trends for each country. After the app organizes all the information and puts it in the “State of Mobile 2022” report. The report found Canadians spent a majority of their time in 2021 on social and communication apps. Gen Z users were spending most of their time on photo and video apps like Instagram, Spotify, Netflix, and TikTok.

Millennials were spending most of their time on Facebook, followed by Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Amazon. Baby boomers and Gen X used the Weather Network app, followed by the Covid Alert app, OneDrive, and Fitbit.
