    The Provincial government announced a delay in resuming in-person classes at Ontario schools in response to the surge in new COVID-19 cases. 

    On Monday, school officials said, “Public health and other experts have expressed significant concerns that the current transmission trends, combined with the potentially high levels of mobility from social and consumer activity over the holiday period, could overwhelm health care and public health sector capacity in the new year.” 

    The Ontario government said all public schools would have online learning the week of January 4, as part of many measures to slow down the spread of COVID-19.
