Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday that Canada will be providing the country with personal protective equipment and ventilators. They will also donate $10 million to the Indian Red Cross but experts claim it is not enough for 1.4 billion people.

India’s healthcare system is walking on thin ice, and experts such as Rajshri Jayaraman say it is essential for countries, like Canada, to provide more assistance. Dr. Srinivas Murthy at the University of Britsh Columbia agrees and believes that Canada should give even more money to charities that operate like the Indian Red Cross. This week France announced they will be donating eight large oxygen-generating plants. Lastly, Germany and Australia are sending oxygen concentrators and ventilators to India.
