The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Toronto Maple Leaf’s 4-3 in overtime on Thursday night. Brayden Point was able to score off a rebound between the legs of the Leafs goaltender at 18:04 of the first overtime period. The three other goals were scored by Ondrej Palat, Anthony Cirelli, and Nikita Kucherov for the Lightning.

The two-time defending Stanley Cup champions goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy managed to stop 30 shots. John Tavares scored 2 goals for the Leaf’s and Auston Mathews had 1. Toronto’s goaltender Jack Campbell made a total of 31 saves while William Nylander added two assists.

The Leafs will now look to win the series in Game 7 in Toronto to make it to the second round of the playoffs. A feat that hasn’t been accomplished for 18 years. Toronto’s record is 7-2 at home in Game 7s, but last year they blew a 3-1 series lead against the Montreal Canadiens.
