The Toronto Maple Leafs have a chance to win their first playoff series in nearly 20 years. The team hasn’t been able to make it to the second round of the playoffs since 2004.
Toronto currently leads the series 3-2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Game 6 is set to be played tonight but defeating the Stanley Cup champions has been no easy task. The Leafs overcame a 2-nothing deficit to win Game 5.
The last time Toronto advanced to the second rounds of the playoffs was against Ottawa 18 years ago. That year they lost in the conference finals against the Philadelphia Flyers 2-4. The last time Toronto won a Stanley Cup was against the Montreal Canadiens in 1967. If Toronto loses tonight, Game 7 will be in Toronto on Saturday.
