    Many retailers refuse to accept $100 bills, as many are being forged and passed around. 

    Toronto bakery owner Douglas Wheeler said, “I had three in a week, and that’s when I said, ‘We’re done.”

    Wheeler no longer allows his stores to accept $100 bills at all since cashiers in a hurry will often let one through because they don’t catch it. 

    The Bank of Canada reported that the numbers of forged $100 bills skyrocketed from 2015 to 2018.
