    International and domestic migrants are fueling the surge in New Brunswick’s population. New Brunswick’s population tipped over 800,000 earlier this year, a new estimate shows. This years has seen record international immigration as well as a historic movement of people from Ontario.

    When the provinces population reached 800,000, Premier Blaine Higgs said “people across the country and around the world are seeing the value, the opportunity and the reward of choosing to live here,”

    On Wednesday, Statistics Canada said New Brunswick received 6,581 immigrants between April 1 2021 and March 31, 2022. This was the largest number of people to move to the province in a single 12 month period since 1932.
