An announcement from Paris, France says production of another potential vaccine against coronavirus will begin in less than a month. The companies developing the vaccine are Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline. They started a large trial involving 35,000 adult volunteers from the United States, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

The pharmaceutical firm said the study will first test vaccine candidates against the original COVID-19 virus from Wuhan, China. Then against the first variants reported in South Africa. In a statement, the companies said if trials are successful and regulators approve it, the vaccine could be used by October.

Earlier in May, the firms reported that their vaccine volunteers have triggered strong immune responses in all adult age groups. After a volunteer received two doses they showed antibodies similar to those found in people who recovered from the virus.
