After 2 years of border restrictions, New Zealand opens its country to 60 visa-waiver countries including Canada. New Zealand welcomed back tourists from Canada, the U.S., Britain, Japan and 50 other countries. On Monday, the nation dropped most of its remaining pandemic border restrictions.

The nation has been known for its breathtaking scenery and adventure tourism such as bungee jumping and skiing. With more than three million tourists visiting each year, tourism accounted for 20 per cent of New Zealand’s foreign income and  a little over five per cent of the overall economy.

In 2020 international tourism was stopped altogether after New Zealand imposed some of the strictest border restrictions. After vaccinations reached over 80 per cent of the country’s population, their government started to ease restrictions. New Zealand reopened to tourists from Australia six weeks ago.
