Anyone aged 18 and up in Ontario will be able to book a second dose of an mRNA vaccine starting next week. On June 28 at 8 a.m. the provincial system will let any adult book a second shot earlier than scheduled. The province said this should increase second dose eligibility for roughly 1.5 million people across Ontario.

Health Minister Christine Elliot explained that the vaccine rollout in Ontario continues to accelerate, giving them a chance to provide second doses to “communities most at risk,”. She further said all the vaccines approved by Health Canada “provide strong protection against COVID-19 and the Delta variant,” encouraging people to get a shot.

Starting Wednesday, anybody in a Delta variant hot spot in Ontario who received a shot on or before May 30 can get a second dose. Originally these individuals weren’t scheduled to get their second dose until August.
