The government in Ontario is expected to give an announcement on the COVID-19 vaccination certification program Tuesday afternoon. Christine Elliott, the Health Minister will speak at a news conference beside Associate Minister of Digital Government Kaleed Rasheed and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore.

The announcement will be one week before COVID-19 vaccines become required for non-essential services in Ontario. Beginning September 22, people will need proof of vaccination to eat indoors at restaurants, bars, go to a gym, movie theatre, sporting event or concert, and event space. Residents can either print or download second dose receipts using the government website.

The government said they will be a digital vaccine certificate available for October 22, 2021. There have not been too many details of the format of the certificate other than it can be printed or involve a QR code on a phone. The province is working to develop an app to allow businesses to scan QR codes.
