    On Tuesday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 1,593 new infections of COVID-19 however, the number is an estimate due to testing restrictions. There are at least 1,550 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 384 people are in intensive care units. The total number of patients in Ontario ICUs with COVID-19 hasn’t dropped below 400 since early January. 

    Last week, 92.1 per cent of Ontarians over the age of 12 have one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and  89.5 per cent had two doses. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 11.9 per cent as it processed over 12,961 tests in the last 24-hour period. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the province has identified 1,076,078 lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

    Since December 2020, more than 31,000,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province. There were 223 new cases logged in Toronto, 63 cases in York Region, and 129 in Peel Region. The province also reported 56 cases in Durham Region, 159 in Ottawa, and all other regions reported fewer than 100 cases on Monday.
